Improve Your Overall Health to Improve Your Intimate Health

So you want to be healthier, but aren’t sure where to start? We’ve all been there. Improving your overall health to benefit your intimate health is a great goal for 2022.

Luckily, there are some very simple steps you can incorporate into your current routine that will leave you feeling happier and healthier than before, with very little effort! If you’re looking for some quick adjustments to leave your intimate areas feeling better than ever, read on for some great tips.

Try to eat a fruit or veggie at every meal

Your diet impacts every aspect of your life - and your body! What you put into your body literally fuels you, so make sure you’re putting in the good stuff

A good rule of thumb is to get portions of grains,  protein, fruits and veggies on your plate as often as you can, giving you a nice balance of nutrients. Try a new type of food, keep it colorful, and make sure it’s as nutritious as it is yummy! Ask your doctor or dietitian for more concrete advice if you feel you need some additional guidance.

Get a good night’s sleep

It can be difficult if you’re a restless sleeper or struggle with insomnia or stress, but it really is important to get a full 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night. While you sleep, your body and brain recharge, leaving you feeling refreshed for the next day.

You can read more about the importance of sleep here, but rest assured that your body will thank you if you give yourself a set bedtime and wake up routine.

Drink more water

It’s important to stay hydrated. Water is the building block for your body, so it is crucial to ensure that you are getting enough water throughout the day. Your body will thank you!

Keeping hydrated is essential to your intimate health, as this helps your vagina self-lubricate and flush out anything that shouldn’t be there (since the vagina is a self-cleansing system) - and it makes sex more comfortable as well!

Moderation!

We all love to indulge sometimes - in junk food, alcohol, whatever your vice may be. You’ve of course heard that most things are okay in moderation, and we too will add our voices to the chorus.

Cutting out a weekly pizza night would make you miserable, and there is actually some evidence that drinking red wine can be good for you after all, so the key is to find a balance. Listen to your body and treat yourself right.

Set aside time for self-care

It’s important to nourish your mind as well as your body! Whether you are getting into a hobby, spending time with loved ones, or getting some solo time (of either variety…), spending time with yourself and focusing on your own happiness and wellbeing will pay off in dividends in every aspect of your life, including your intimate health.

Exercise

Exercise is what keeps your body moving and your blood flowing, keeping you healthy. A good rule of thumb is to try to get your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes every day - unless you want to commit to more!

Whether you want to do a daily walk, a weight lifting class, or exercises crafted specifically to center your intimate health, your vagina and vulva will thank you for keeping your body fit and active.

Shower thoroughly after exercising

Okay, so now you’ve done your 30 minutes of activity - time to wash off and clean up!

It’s important to shower and cleanse your body - especially your vulva area! - as soon as you’re done with the cool-down portion of your exercise routine. Showering washes away the sweat and dirt from your workout, letting your skin recover.

Make sure you’re using the right materials

Speaking of showering and keeping your body clean: it’s important to make sure you are using the right materials when you are cleaning your vulva. Read more about the importance of a regular routine here, and the detailed Do’s and Don’ts here, but the short version is: your vagina doesn’t need to be washed at all, and your vulva can be washed gently with warm water and soaps specifically formulated to protect your intimate health.

After washing, it’s important to also stay moisturized. Using a moisturizing, protective, revitalizing cream like REJUVENATE is a safe bet for keeping yourself clean and soft post-shower. Just a pea-sized amount of cream brings with it hydration, protection, plumping and tightening effect to the vulva and pubic skin.  This keeps you feeling fresh, safe, and clean, without the need for any harsh washes that can be rough on your skin.
